Salary:  £22,554.34 - £24,593.46

Contract Type: Full time

Hours: 40 hours per week - Term time only plus 10 additional days

The Role:

This is a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead.

The college believe in changing lives and giving the students the skills, knowledge, and confidence to successfully shape their own future. Their aim is to equip young adults with the life and hospitality skills to become work ready, life ready.

As a Care Support Worker, you will ensure you meet the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

Your absolute priority is to safeguard the service users in their care. You must work professionally, effectively and sensitively with your team to ensure that all service users are safe and feel safe with any concerns listened to and acted upon appropriately.


Key duties:

  • Assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and the toilet.

  • Help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.

  • Comply with the agency's guidelines and policies at all times.

  • Encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.

  • Carry out duties in accordance with the Personal Service User plan (care plan).

  • Complete medication record, if applicable.

  • Ensure all paperwork is appropriately completed and kept up-to-date.

  • Support individuals in attending planned activities in the community whilst promoting individual interests.

Successful applicants will be subject to pre-employment safeguarding checks including an enhanced disclosure and barring service (DBS) check.


The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and we are therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.
