Position: Deputy Headteacher

Salary: £50,807 - £56,802
Hours: 40 hours per week

Qualifications:
Qualified teacher status (Essential)
Accredited training in specific areas of special education, e.g., Social/Emotional Needs (Desirable)
Recent management training (Desirable)
Experience:
Show evidence of at least 5 years successful proven track record of excellent creative and structured teaching.
At least two years of experience in a Middle or Senior Leadership role, preferably, but not necessarily, in an SEN setting.
Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and experience of turning policy into effective and successful practice.
Experience of working with and developing links with the community
Leadership of a significant area or phase or inclusion, including responsibility for raising standards across the whole school.
Experience of working with and involving school governors/trustees or executives

The role:
The school are looking for an inspirational and engaging current Deputy Headteacher, or Middle Leader ready for the next step, who shares the same commitment and vision in providing an ambitious and therapeutic, person-centred learning environment for the students with additional needs.
Working collaboratively with the Headteacher and the Leadership Team, you will have knowledge, experience, and interpersonal skills to develop the school in accordance with its shared values and the school development plans.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading on behaviour and safeguarding (including Designated Safeguarding Lead), across the school and will champion the PACE and restorative approaches to ensure that they continue to be at the forefront of all that they do as a school. The Deputy Head will also play a key role as a member of the senior leadership team in developing the curriculum as the school work towards becoming an outstanding school. This will include line management of education staff and oversight of exams and awarding bodies.

Key Duties:
Deputise and undertake overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head Teacher or Deputy Head Education and on any other occasions where required.
Hold strategic responsibility for students’ personal development, behaviour and Safeguarding across the school and ensure that these areas are managed effectively and that all staff are aware of their safeguarding responsibilities.
Work closely with the Head Teacher and the Deputy Head Education to ensure that the aims, values and objectives of the school are achieved through an effective School Development Plan.
Ensure that all staff adhere to national standards and regulation.
Line Manager, and carry out staff appraisals as designated by the Head.
Manage and oversee the effectiveness of the TA group, including competencies, observations and feedback, deployment, and in-service development.
With the Head Teacher, to share responsibility for Child Protection and Safeguarding of all pupils.
With the Head Teacher, to have responsibility for the general welfare, wellbeing and behaviour of all pupils.
Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.
